iClone 3.2 Update Released

Reallusion have today released a new update to iClone3. The 3.2 patch contains a number of fixes and enhancements. One very useful new addition is the Thumbnail Viewer for Windows Explorer which enables you to see images of all your Projects and Content.

The changes in iClone 3.2 can be found below:

Enhanced: Performance enhancement on computers with multi-core CPUs.

Enhanced: Option to launch your video player after video output is finished.

Enhanced: "Align Actor Motion" option under "Animation/Motion" is checked by default now.

Enhanced: Updated the BackStage program icon.

Enhanced: The "Show/Hide" status of all items is now saved when a project is saved.

Added: iClone data files now support thumbnail displays (when browsing for files for example)

Added: "Lock Ratio" option for UV editing under "Material & Texture Settings".

Added: "Effect All Channels" option for UV editing under "Material & Texture Settings".

Added: Default Content - 3D Spaces under Props.

Added: Default Content - Artificial Eye tuner.

Added: Height adjustment for Sky props.

Fixed: CloneCloth Characters did not display "Drop" and "Wall" shadow effects properly in Pixel-Shader mode.

Fixed: CloneBone characters with parts already attached could not be loaded.

Fixed: Loading iClone2 projects would display all particle effects at twice the speed.

Fixed: Loading projects would sometimes not open the reminder message to save your current project.

Fixed: Saving a project would use the current view for the thumbnail of this project.

Fixed: Trinity's eye color could not be adjusted.

Fixed: e-mail addresses with too many characters could not be used to log into iClone3 EX.

Fixed: The "Jeep" iProp could not be animated using the right-click commands on iClone3 EX.

Performance Upgrade

Dramatic improvement with "Quick Shader", especially for animation that requires more CPU calculation such as multiple character animation. "Pixel shader" with intensive material effects, is more of a GPU bond, with minor performance up. For single CPU, there is no significant difference.

For multi-core 2 CPU
   - Quick Shader: estimated 3-5 times faster
   - Pixel Shader: estimated 2-4 times faster
For multi-core 4 CPU
   - Quick Shader: estimated 3-8 times faster
   - Pixel Shader: estimated 2-6 times faster

Holiday Greetings

With Christmas now behind us and the new year looming, I would just like to wish you all the best for this holiday season and hope you have been having a relaxing time with your loved ones.

If you were extra lucky you may have even managed to get some time to spend on iClone. Sadly I didn't manage to sneak away myself (I was under strict orders) but I 'am back now and keen to get working on all my new projects I have planned for 2009.

Happy iCloning everyone.

iClone Demo Reel: Play

Reallusion have released the first of a series of four demo reels that will showcase the new ideology behind iClone3. The four videos are Create - Play - Edit - Share with Play being the first to be unveiled.

If you are like me and get inspiration from watching what others have done with the software then you will want to see this video.

Christmas Comes To iClone

With less than week till the Christmas you still have time to make that festive movie you've always wanted to make but never had the right props or characters to do it.

Reallusion have made it easier for everyone to make their own White Christmas or Miracle on 34th Street with some great new content packs. First up is the Christmas Characters Pack which features Santa and two rather hot looking helpers. This is an updated pack with the old G1 characters replaced with the new G3 avatars and also includes new spring effects for added realism.

Next up is a really fantastic decorated Christmas room. The Mantelpiece scene has everything you need to make the perfect festive setting complete with Christmas Tree, Decorations and an Open Fire. This really is a wonderful pack and my favourite.

Last but not least is the City Elements - Suburbs In Winter pack. This pack like the earlier City Elements release features houses, roads, fences, parks, but this time all in a winter setting with snow on the ground and on the rooftops. There is also a gorgeous shopping street scene included with all the shops lit up with Christmas lights and decorations. It really looks great.

All the above packs are available now. If you click the names of the packs above you will be taken to the relevant product page on the Reallusion website for further details.
